Colliding galaxies

Just for fun. Both galaxies' masses are scaled to that of the Milky Way, each is discretized into 2000 point masses. Would have prefered to use continuum methods, but not enough computing power.

Even though the galaxies are colliding the stars themselves don't. By the way excellent work!

how about simulating Milkyway and Andromeda?

They recently confirmed the Milkyway is bigger than previously thought. Now it s estimated to be 1 trillion stars instead of several hundred billion. Think you need a super server farm to run that simulation! [smilie=bye2.gif]
