An object on the evening sky

Post by lsy_98 »

On 17/04/2004, 7pm Saturday. I on the way back to Hougang home. The whole sky was blue color. It is a very clear sky. The sun is about to set at West side. Venus showed brightly at above West sky. Jupiter also showed brightly on the East sky about 60 degrees up. This is the first time I use my naked eyes to see three objects at the same time on the bright sky. :D :P I could not spot the Mars and Saturn. Otherwise will be five objects.

Subsequently, I saw a bright star not far away from the Jupiter. (I thought that is the Saturn. But, it should now be at the West side) It is about 15 to 20 degree away from the Jupiter (toward South). The brightness is not as bright as Jupiter. This make me wondering what object that can show during the bright sky. I brought out my telescope to spot it. It is an amazing view. I saw a round object. First, I thought that was my focus problem. After gave a few tried still the same. One thing that I can confirm was a star near the object. Based on the star, I managed to adjust the focus to the sharpest. What I saw is a round object in light blue and grey color. In the round object has two bright dots. What was that ???? :?: I quickly bring out my WebCam to capture it. Too bad... … Before the webcam was ready, the object already disappeared from the sky. I was not able to spot it again. It was about 7.20pm, the sky getting dark.

The only I can do is to draft it out using MS Paint software. It shows at the link below.

Pls call me if anyone managed to spot it. My number is 90176065

From your picture, I think that's a weather balloon. We saw a similar one at Marina South last year also.

Through the naked eyed, how is the weather baloon look like ? Will it be like a star ? The object I saw is exactly like a star and not moving.

When we first saw it naked eyed, it was just like a bright, star light point against a deep blue early evening sky. When we used the telescope to look at it, the image we got through the eyepiece was very close to what you had in the picture.

I saw the object again this evening (19/4/2004) at 7.10pm same place. It disappeared at 7.22pm. I not able to view it using my telescope b'co it blocked by the corridor ceilling. It is also too timely if I bring my telescope to open field. For sure will not be able to see it in time. So, this time i only use by 1X7 binocular(naked eyes) to view it until it is diappeared. It's look like a bright star then getting smaller and smaller util disappeared.
