CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!
I have been gathering fifteen-minute subs of M16 for the past week, to add to the first lot I captured a week ago.
Here is a total of 5.75 hours
I tell ya, it is well worth the effort and a visible difference when you take the time to create darks and flats for subtraction, plus the extra subs. Really.
I had another go at re-stacking them in Deep sky stacker then running them through photoshop with a crop as well. I think I have the colour right now and the technique is getting easier to replicate.
When discovered in 1745 by one Phillipe Loy , he described only the open cluster in Serpens Cauda.About 20 years later in 1764 Messier thought the area is surrounded by a faint glow & added to his catalogue as M16.Can see the eagle right in the middle of this eagle nebula.Nice astrophoto & well worth the effort , mate
