this is how the moon was formed. supposedly.
if something that big hits again. we will have another moon! or we will become a binary planet!! or...

you mean earth hit by another rock? it is not only possible, it has happened many times before. and it'll happen again.

if in doubt, just take a look at the moon through a scope, and remember that it's a smaller target in space. so whatever that made those poke marks on the moon, the earth got more!

and thanks to our bigger neighbours like jupiter and saturn, who absorbed many more impacts, otherwise we will get even more...

yes but i think another "rapture" is coming pretty soon.. well we probably will not experience it but i think its just the way of life and mother earth cleaning herself..

i would rather not use the word "rapture" as that carries certain religious denotation....
and earth really doesn't have a choice in this thing... so, let not carry the "mother" connotation too far too....
it's simple randomness, given enough time, almost anything can happen... the earth is about 4.5 billion years old, so she has seen more things than we can imagine...

... not forgetting the asteroid that made short work of the dinosaurs...supposed to have crashed onto yucatan peninsula in mexico,crater can still be seen below the waves
