My first attempt at astrophotography

Post by Psycho »

Hi guys,

This is my first atempt at astrophotography.

This is the shot i took of the moon with my Orion 8" Dob using a 25mm plossl 2 days ago. Shot with handheld D90 f/3.5 1/100s ISO 200 @ 18mm. Location Singapore

The view from the plossl is extremely sharp but I am unable to get the sharpness using my camera. I guess cus my hand keeps shaking and the moon keeps moving....

welcome to singastro, psycho.
That's a very good first attempt. If you want steady pictures, you may want to invest in a bracket that holds the camera in place firmly or a t-adapter.

Very good, you managed to hold it up to the eyepiece, you must have shake-free hands, the D90 must be of some weight eh? [smilie=angel.gif]

Hi,
Very good Moon shot!! You must have a very steady hand. :)

It's common that the Moon image is a bit soft for single shot at that magnification even you can hold the camera perfectly steady... the softness is usually cause by the atmosphere turbulence.

By the way, welcome to SingAstro and the world of Astrophotography!!

Have a nice day.
