Hi,
The sky was quite hazy due to high cloud when I arrived there at around 8pm especially the sky around the Moon.

As the time for Sagittarius Lambda to reappear on the illuminated side approach, the sky condition was getting better, but the Moon still look very hazy.
We though we might not be able to see the reappearing of the star due to the sky condition, but Sagittarius Lambda didn't disappoint us
It's suddenly appear on the edge of the Moon... like a pimple suddenly appear on the Moon! [smilie=wow2.gif]
The star was very obvious and look brighter than I expected... very interesting view... my first successfully observed occultation.

We wasn't able to observe the occultation of the globular cluster NGC 6638 as I can't find the globular cluster... may be the sky was too hazy and too near the bright Moon to see it.

Anyway, below are the photos I took of the events:

Tachyon and his Orion ED 100 on Vixen Sphinx EQ mount.

As long as you are spreading the good word of astronomy, anywhere will do!
For next event, must ask the ex-Tampines CSN Chief and current co-organiser of the Tiong Bahru CSN Group Mr Yang together with the walking goto , Mr "Parrot" himself, rlow! [smilie=crying2.gif]

hello!

I'm a freelance writer currently working on an assignment for National Parks Board.

I'm tasked to write a feature article on unusual or little-known activities people engage in at our local parks, and SingAstro's Astronomy sessions certainly sound like it!

I hope you guys can furnish me with more information on what you guys do at these sessions and how regular this activity takes place.

I can be reached at yan.yqy@gmail.com. Hope to hear from you guys soon. Thanks in advance!

Hi, welcome to Singastro forum!

If I may speak on behalf of our friends here... we are amatuer astronomers who set up our telescopes in the park to give the public an opportunity for free viewing of the Moon, planets and deep sky objects. This is a part of Singastro's public outreach programme to contribute towards the International Year of Astronomy (IYA) 2009 objectives. This is currently conducted on a monthly basis, and held on a Saturday evenng nearest the 1st quarter moon period. The next session will be held this coming Saturday 24 Oct 2009 at Tiong Bahru Park from 7.30pm to 10pm.

I have also dropped you an email on this.
