from this comparisons... the point and shoot deep space shot is becoming a reality...and you can do it in 1 sec flat....and camera ccd technology is really advancing ... the d200 simply cannot deliver what a d700 can do, and i can imagine what the d3s can do :)

note : my d200 ( with star trails and noise in 8 secs ) with tracking mount cannot even compare to a d700 point and shoot with simple tripod ... that is really big difference

Scope used is ed127 with Mewlon flat field 0.8 Reducer
nikon d200 1.5 crop cam body
Nikon d700 full frame cam body
Images crop and unedited

Yes, D3s at ISO 102400 can go under 1/10 sec. In the future, may be ISO 1,000,000; take picture in total darkness. Then it is the real dark side, hahaha

Hi,
I saw in "TODAY" newspaper(page B8-nov 27 2009)that the canon EOS 7D can perform at iso12800 with very low noise.Well the days of shooting in the dark may not be far off---but we may met resistances from the govt--recall how they ban image intensifier that can actually be connected to our eyepieces to help us.So lets pray that they dont intervene this time.Otherwise we will never achieve our dream of "deepsky shooting with high iso".Thanks.

5D Mark II is by far one of the better ones in terms of high ISO noise. Much better than the 7D.

That is because when he reviewed it, Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and Nikon D3S wasn't announced yet. ISO 102400 compare to 5DMII at 25600 max. BTW, 7D is not full frame
