Hi guys, I've disappeared for a while now and my telescope also needs to see some light now.. I'll be joining MPAstro for their star party later with my scope.

Anyone interested to meet up can contact me at 91-two-eight-1641.

Hehe, I'm going with my girlfriend so I can't meet you.

But, I've got a map of where the MPAstro people will be at:
Image

Duration: 2000hrs to 0800hrs (following day)

Getting there: Changi Beach Park is served by SBS Transit bus services 9, 19 and 89 at several bus stops along its length. These bus stops are among the closest to the coast you can find in Singapore. By taking these buses, visitors can alight along Nicoll Drive. Visitors can also take bus services 2, 29, 59 and 109 to Changi Village and 5 minutes of walk across the pedestrian footbridge to the park.

Well, last night's Geminids star party hosted by MPastro was a resounding success. Not only was the sky extremely clear, transparent for the majority of the time throughout the night, the number of scopes (around 15)available for viewing and the public's interest and participation are just so amazing. It felt just like a mini star-party, like those you see in US. Eventhough the site in changi beach is less than ideal due to light pollution, but public awareness to astronomy as a hobby has increased. Throughout the night, a number of campers and curious passer-bys got a chance to look at M45 and M42 through scopes and were totally awe-struck by the views. It also seems like the extensively promoting effort on the internet has really paid off. A couple of ppl interested in the Geminids meteor shower have managed to find information abt this star party via astronomy.sg and these also include both local and foreign expats.

The below are some of the DSO seen for the night:

1) M42
2) NGC1981
3) Cr70
4) Cr69
5) Hyades
6) M45
7) M36
8) M38
9) NGC1907
10) NGC1778
11) M44
12) Cr89
13) M35
14) M103
15) NGC654
16) NGC659
17) NGC663
18) NGC637

Also managed to catch Mars and Saturn in one of the 2 Tak Mewlons
