East Coast Stargazing (Friday, 8th Jan 2010)

Hey people!

Weather seems to have made a turn for the better like tonight and with the moon rising later each night. Would like to try to initiate another ECP session again, since the last one was clouded out.

Here's a tentative line-up for the session on 8th January Friday:

Venue: Coastal grass field in between Carpark C4 and D1 (usual location that we used to have)
Date: 8th January Friday
Time: 2100HRS and beyond

More on the location: The site is a grass field just "behind" the beach shoreline. There is the Siglap Canal nearby. This Canal runs along inland to Victoria Junior College and Neptune Court condo.

Note: Event is weather-permitting. Will make a final confirmation post here on the day itself.

Hi all,

I've only joined the forum recently and have been lurking, absorbing information. I don't have a scope yet. I'm thinking of getting a Celestron NexStar 8 SE but I'd really like to take a look through someone's else scope first if possible, to get a feel for what to expect. Do you mind if I join you on Friday if the skies are clear(ish)?

If it's going ahead, will it be easy to find you guys if I just turn up at East Coast Park between carparks C4 and D1 after 9pm?

Sure do! You are most welcomed to join us, and anyone else who wishes to come. Sessions like these are nice opportunities for the beginner to learn more, and for veterans a means of catching up, etc.

Many thanks Remus! I'll watch this thread to see if it's going ahead. Looks like it's clearing up but I may not be able to make it tonight anyway - if not, I'll definitely come along to one of the sessions soon.

Hi guys! LATEST NEWS! Think the weather is not doing good on us again, but instead of cancelling the event total, am suggesting a eat-prata-chat-astro-session instead. We do this usually after the ECP session last times, but for tonight, think we will just SKIP right to the eat-prata-chat-astro-session. Location? It will be at the roti-prata coffeshop opposite Kembangang MRT Station. According to Vincent Lee, our wonderful prata initator, this place is called AL AMEEN (has a greenish big signboard) and it runs along Changi Road, and Frankel Ave is next to it. We will meet at 9:30PM. If you are unsure of the location, please poke the phone. Newbies, new-comers, veterans, just come! Everyone's welcome! See you!
