Toa Payoh Garden

Post by zong »

After a long time, the make-shift interchange at the Toa Payoh Garden is finally converted back to a garden again! Yay! Now here's a good news and a bad news.

Good news is, in about 1 month (as I estimate) the garden should open officially, which means there'll be one less construction site and (A LOT!!!) less mosquitoes  at where we observe (in the park). The overall layout of the new park looks not bad, though it looks too new. That won't be a problem though, people soon start littering and the place will look "normal" again :?

Here's the bad news: The whole new park is a wide big field, which is all LIGHTED with street lamps, about only 5m apart along tracks all around the park. This means that our observation site will be TOO BRIGHT!!! *sigh*

I know (or guess) we have quite a number of us living in Toa Payoh. This opening of the garden will be both good and bad to us. I think we may have to find an alternative observation site soon.. What do you guys think?

Yeah, we need to find another place soon - would be best if it's still within walking distance from home.

Bishan Park is worse than Toa Payoh Park, I see more streetlamps there than at the new park... apparently they have to switch on those lamps right else they wouldn't be there

Anymore Toa Payoh observers here? It's good to contribute, let's share ideas on where else can we 'evade' street lamps in Toa Payoh! For worst case, mebbe let's "register" with the authorities to "grant" us some place in the park where they can switch off the lights :P
