Post by ALAN »

Hi All

selling my Vixen Ascot ZR10x50WP Binocular ..Bought from McGill Commercial House on 14/01/2010 with receipt , it only 3 days old.

i got it at S$230 but selling now at S$200

here is the exact model I bought:
=======================

http://www.mcgill.com.sg/shop/product_i ... cc9982e45d

i can deliver , COD.

reason: I am a begineer but seriously, i dont think i can really enjoy star glazing with a bino, am considering a telescope now but need to sell off this due to budget... it has never been drop and there is no problem with the unit.

It really brand new, used for about 4-5 hours total in-door.

with carry bag/ user manual and box. ( Eye piece covers X 2 pairs)

Sorry, but $200 is fixed price. (cause bought just a couple of days)

Since you already bought it, you should try to use this bino to learn your way around the sky. It is far more enjoyable this way. During this time of the year, there are plenty of nice bino targets for beginners to enjoy. My most memorable astro years are with binos and I can never forget those views. My best view of Halley's comet in 1986 were through binos with it's long tail and all. How to use telescope to enjoy the views for these objects?

Take Pleadies for example. In a 10x50 bino it is so nice. When you point a scope at it, I think you will lose half the fun.

Despite having 3 telescopes at home, I still use my cheapo 11x60 Oberwerk bino mostly for scanning the skies and enjoy the wide field views. There is something about bino that telescope can never replace. Hence, don't sell it to soon after bying it. Enjoy it first and use it to learn your way around the sky.

I agree with VinSnr. My first open cluster i saw was the Pleaides using a 10x60 china-made bino and it was splendid.

Sometimes when you are lazy or too tired to bring out your equipment and set it up, you can always use your bino to scan the skies.

Anyway, good luck on your sale! [smilie=cute.gif]

If using bino is tiring, wait till you use a telescope!

It won't be just neck and eye, but arms and legs as well. Maybe even a backache.

Anyway, a 10x50 bino is very versatile. Use it to watch F1 when it is in Singapore later this year...or bring it to Jurong Bird Park.

Agree, binocular is general purpose equipment you can use for many purposes even if you are not going into astronomy & essential for amateur astronomer regardless of how many telescopes owned.

uhmm well I give it a try the next few night , but it still on sale..

the only think i havent done is the Moon...maybe this week.

beside Star Gazing..cant think of any reason for keeping this bino. F1 isnt one my interest.

Something I cant really understand is that the STAR are so small..via the Bino.. it just a dot of light via the bino... :( nothing else.
wish more detail can be seen.

my big problem with the bino is always the neck.

i would like to buy one of those Sky Window mounts (with the big mirror) but they aren't exactly cheap (and not cheap to ship).

I bought some first-surface mirrors from Surplus Shed before but they were too small.....

Actually I tend to agree. With a reflector or refractor with diagonal, I'm usually looking down. With binos, I have to look up, and I get dizzy doing that for more than 1 min, in addition to the neck-ache...
