hey guys, i've recently acquired a cg5-gt mount and since it has motors it needs a power source to run.
at home it isn't a problem cos the power sockets are alwaes around but when outside in the dark, where to get power from?
i know some are thinking draw power from car but that isn't really practical cos what happens when i can't afford a car and it is dangerous cos it'll drain the car batt flat.
celestron offers this item Item #18774. can check it out at http://www.celestron.com/prod_pgs/acces ... pplies.htm
it costs 60 USD exclusive of shipping if bought from US or 249 SGD if bought from sci centre.
what do u guys think of it?
or do any of you guys have a better alternative solution to this power source problem?

what voltage is the mount using? 12V?
Go to the battery shop at sim lim tower basement.
They sell and assortment of rechargeable gel batteries.
The most popular choice in Singastro is the Yuasa 7AH. If you feel its too big, then settle for the 4AH like mine but be prepared to pay more since the 4AH is not "standard" size. Then get yourself one of those auto-shutoff charger.
Unless I remember wrongly, everything can be bought for less than $60..
