SG weather is always unpredictable. Temperature is higher than what is was several years ago and winds are much stronger too!
I've always been interested in stargazing, astrology and just good ole looking into the night skies! Now with family , work and other hobbies
consideration for a scope is not so much financial but more of how much time I can really devote overall. I'm not one of many hobbies but prefer to spend a little here and there so it's all more fun in the end and less burn out.,...lol! Hence the consideration of 'do I spend a little more to see more' or 'less so I can see whats best'? Plus my daughter wants to know more, so I guess it's daddy's job to do something..haha!

My wife never complained about how much time, effort & money I spent on my Astronomy hobby!................suddenly I met her!!!

Did you mean "astronomy"? Astrology is more for fortune telling...timatworksg wrote:S

It's a Start!
Just an update to close this thread for now.
Went for some drinks with a few friends and happen to mention that I was scoping around for a scope. So happens that one of them has a white elephant at home about 1yr old. Still in good condition, used a few times and currently no time to fool around with it. It's on loan for me to have fun with and take care of. If I enjoy it he's willing to offload it to me for a friendly price.
But for now, I'll take whatever comes to enjoy this hobby and mostly have fun with it!
Oh yeah, it's a 'Celestron Spotting Scopes C130 Mak' and comes with 10x50 finder scope, 38mm eyepiece, 45' erect image diagonal, all in a soft carry case. Still looks good as he has really taken care of it.
Anyone have any feedback on this scope and thoughts on it? Knowledge is a fun thing to have!!

Awaiting the price for it,...and if all is good will get it and the barlow, 20mm, 10mm. Most definately the tripod and mount....cos the one thats on loan won't cut it (norm video tripod), but good enough for me to play with for now.
Next payday and after the CNY ang pow payouts...haha! Thanks!

But do be careful to ask how your friend keeps his scope. If not in a dry box there could be fungu on the corrector plates or mirror.
The C130 is a reasonable beginner scope but make sure the mount is sturdy, else you will have alot of vibrations.
Good luck!

Well it's confirmed that I am now the owner of the C130 Mak! Now I need a mount that can take the 9.24lbs!! The scope is in excellent condition as my friend is like me a photog and we often do projects together.....just never knew he had a scope.
Anyway....slowly save, get what I need...never one to rush! Thanks all for the advice, encouragement, etc etc. Look forward to more and joining in a night escapade of Observation and chit chat!
