if u wanna come into this hobby u can't haf a tight budget....unless u consider second hand stuff

my total assets value about 4600 dollars
my first scope costs 1200 so u get a rough idea of how much to save on right?

but try getting second hands one first or from american website
they're much cheaper

Hi,
Welcome to SingAstro!!! :D

Actually, you don't need go to a very dark site to enjoy astronomy. Just any field or park without any direct light is a good place to start and if you like planet observation, you don't need a dark site. For example, I normally go to a field near my house... the light pollution is quite bad, but I still can do some observation, learn the sky and practise my skill.

Without telescope... no problem. You can always join our members in their observation session... I think they will sure welcome you to join in the fun.

By the way, if you are not brand conscious, there are some good beginner scope setup under S$800 from our local vendor. Or if you don't mind, you can always get a second hand scope from some of our members (See the Buy and Sell Section), some of them are in very good condition.

Anyway, welcome to SingAstro again and enjoy Astronomy!! :D

Have a nice day.

Hi,
Where do you live?? Park, top of some multi-storey car park, or any place that you can see a large area of sky is a good place to start.

By the way, I also don't have car also. :)

Have a nice day.

Hi Zoids,
U do not need to have a scope to star gaze in Singapore, as a newbie should learn to observe with eyes only or wth binos. Only when u are sure of ur passion for stargazing then u buy a scope. U may go to the seaside to observe or any school field or reservoir will do. Do not expect too much out of Singapore sky as they are extremely light polluted, stars of 3.5 mags are the most u can see. Lastly join any other Singastro people to observe, it is the fastest way u can learn a thing or two. By the way where u live?  8) 8)
