Sidewalk or Observation Schedule???
Sidewalk or Observation Schedule???
Is any sidewalk or observation event planned in the near future? If yes, when and where is it held? Is pre-registration required if I wish to join it? I am interested in looking at various scopes and observing through a few before deciding on whether to or which one to go for. Thanks in advance.

Well, I'm definitely taking my new scope out somewhere on Saturday night. There are too many obstructions around my home. I was thinking of Turf City but maybe I'll try the car park on the East Coast. Either way, it'd be great to have some company!
I've started putting together a list of targets based on what should be viewable from Singapore this weekend around 9pm. So far I have the obvious ones - Saturn, Moon, Mars - but I've also listed the Jewel Box (NGC 4755) and the globular cluster NGC 5139. Can those objects be seen clearly through a C8 in light-polluted skies though...? Any other suggestions?

NO pre-reg required, now we are polling to see if majority prefer Fri at ECP or Sat at Marina Barrage, do vote on the other thread.bharat wrote:Is any sidewalk or observation event planned in the near future? NGC5139 can be easily seen in light polluted SG. The more nagging factors are whether there are presences of high altitude thin clouds are low altitude thick clouds, especially in the tropics, both are just as likely to destroy your chance of seeing it. I have seen it before from my HDB window, on one of those typical hot, cloudless evening using a 7X50. It looks like a bright diffuse patch.majestic wrote:Well, I'm definitely taking my new scope out somewhere on Saturday night. There are too many obstructions around my home.
