Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

DIY Binocular Mount (S&T Aug 2010)

Post by Gary »

Browsed through the latest August issue of Sky & Telescope at Kino Takashimaya yesterday.

There's an article showing how to mount a monopod to a tripod to create a mount that allows you to look through your bino while lying comfortably in a reclining chair.

Looking forward to Clifford creating one for his big bino. :)

I would assume the Bino is on the MonoPod and the mono pods leg is somehow attached to the tripod head allowing it to be positioned down. Observer lays on ground with tripod over him, like mini tent. Curious to see how the monopod is attached to the tripod. Or maybe vice versa??

Would make a cool Ipod/Iphone/Ipad/PSP holder to watch movies while you gently fall asleep...haha!
My wife never complained about how much time, effort & money I spent on my Astronomy hobby!................suddenly I met her!!!

You can use those tripods that allow the central post to be inserted horizontally. If your monopod is of the same diameter, just slot in and lock.

Alamak, sold away Manfrotto 055B, doesn't even need monopod to do it.
