100% improvement in sky condition just now

Post by Gary »

Was outside just now. Saw 1 star at zenith. This is 100% improvement over the sky condition for the past few days. Hope the skies will clear up a little bit more later.

This is what I am talking about, when the sky clears, i'd like to shoot up to the skygarden to do the stuff, light pollution or not.

Else can patiently wait for Christmas, its gonna be a looooooonng hobby, if it lasts that long.

These few days the PM10 is pretty low, hit 10 PSI region for Southern SG. Can even see Tg Balai pretty clearly.

Hi,
Its always like that.I am in this hobby a long long time. After a few days of rain, the polluted air is cleaned and so if that air is not blown away you will expect 1 or 2 nights of sudden appearing v.clear nights.Looking out for those nights can save you quite some money for travelling abroad.During such time even looking for cloud gap to see the stars is worth it.Happy observing pal!

Hi,

I can understand what you mean by looking for cloud gap! Did some imaging of the Lagoon Neb on Tues. Clouds all over and of the 25 one-minute subs, only managed to stack 3 good ones - caught through cloud gaps very likely.

This is done with DSI Pro III through a HA filter. Scope is a WO Meg 90 with a 0.8 flattener. Autoguided with PHD.

This is my first picture post and still learning. Tried to do color RGB but not good results so far.

Hi,mch3898
Yes,thats the spirit. At times atmospheric condition is clear with fast moving clouds.Dont waste such chances.Shot in between the gaps in the clouds.I do that at the times of comet Holmes and frequently in solar imaging. In Singapore, cant expect to have totally clear sky for hours.Happy imaging.!

Thanks Gary and Superiorstream. I guess that is what make this hobby of ours so rewarding. When I first started in this, I was quite discouraged by the light pollution and the cloudy conditions of our sky. I found the HA filter helps tremendously to block off those persky street lights - one of which is just 15 metres away.

Clear sky, everybody or at least cloud gaps!
