Hello fafa! Welcome to singastro forum.
I started astronomy when i was 16 yrs old like you too.
It's good that you have chosen astronomy as your hobby!

Choosing a telescope.. There are many factors to look out for when choosing a telescope, Example, Price? what do you want to see? portability? is your house able to get a good view? How often will you use it? are you sure you want to invest in such a telescope? will your interest fade away after having a peek through it?
Light pollution in singapore is a killer. Not only light pollution. You get rainy days and cloudy nights most of the days. Remember, what you see in a telescope is not what you see on the internet with colourful pictures. Those pictures are taken with high quality telescopes and professional cameras with long exposures and patience.

You would also need good eyepieces to go with your telescope.

For me, i would not recommend the galileoscope as the aperture is quite limited and also it is not really like a decent scope. Something like a souvenier kind of toy.

Youths nowadays waste money on upgrading thheir cellphones to higher end ones and also spending too much money on branded stuffs/clothes which are worthless and meaningless.
For me, a normal cellphone and a music player is enough to satisfy my needs.

fafa, coming into astronomy and singastro I can tell you I learn alot of priceless knowledge. I met very nice people and make more friends with the same interest with different ages and status.

My last advice is, you should join in an observation session to know more about telescopes and get used to the night sky well and don rush into buying something that will be a dust-collector in the future.

Also, if there is a cheap sale going on, there will be reason for it to be cheap.

There is NO BEST telescope in this world.

Thanks, HAPPY SHOPPING [smilie=victory.gif]

Even if you don't intend to buy a scope now, you may consider window shopping at Astro Singapore (@ Omni theatre, Singapore Science Centre). You will get to see a variety of scopes on display (but not touch them!). You can pick up a free catalogue of Celestron which gives a good overview and comparison of the types of telescopes together with the technical specs.
