General Q for refractor, C11 on nebulas/DSO views

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

SCT is not the good way to start imaging, because it's long (in terms of focal length, not physical length) and heavy. For planetary it's OK but for DSO... very challenging due to the weight, focal length, and slow focal ratio (f/10).

I had exactly this problem due to my C9.25, and I decided to forget imaging with the C9.25 and stick with my teeny tiny William Optics refractor for DSO.

Bro,

Through your WO or 100ED visually, can do approx like this? (through filters)
Probably just much smaller....but still can make out the filaments/structure etc...due to the improved contrast?

That's never gonna happen. That guy is using an 18" plus an Astrovid Stellacam3. So the equivalent (visual) aperture is like 30" plus.

I must also add.. the Stellacam3 is a $1500+ USD real-time integration camera, and the 18" scope is $4000+ USD. So really no comparison...

Checked out that Stellacam 3, looks cool..... something like between gen 1 and gen 2 night vision. No wonder the stuff looks bright.

Shucks, so we won't be even close with a 5" APO....then what's there left to see.

Anyway, Meade 127ED is 14800 HKD, LXD75 is 4880 HKD. Total S$3483.
