Alright, this is for sharing of your observation experience. Or, if you are arranging gatherings, star-gazing expeditions or just want some company to go observing together, you can shout it out here.
just smack your scope right in the middle where people are walking or working.
I would if I could but the problem is, you've all seen how the organizers of modern day 'pasar malam' set up these tall and sheltered booths all over the place and as a result the view of the sky is severely restricted...
Those who are coming to Toa Payoh Central to join me & Zong Yao, we will be setting up near the small amphitheatre area just outside Courts and the Entertaintment Ctr. I can be reached at 93621186. See you from 1pm onwards.
Zong Yao : if you can read this in time, try to bring along your digital camera as I had just sold mine over last weekend ... talk about bad timing ! :|
Clear skies to all the various observing groups all over the island !
Ok guys, here are the pictures from the transit observing session at Toa Payoh Central (amphitheatre outside the new Toa Payoh 'Courts') :
# 1 - Prime focus shot through the Pronto using the Nikon F80 body
# 2 - The Lone Ranger of VT2004 - or rather, Lone Pronto
# 3 - Projected image on a piece of white cardboard supplied and held by Mr Lai (pigeon-holes). Contrast and brightness has been adjusted for the Sun so that Venus can be seen a little more clearly from the pic.
# 4 - 'Singastroeans' - anti-clockwise from Zong Yao (white shirt w/yellow sleeves), Wei Kang, Tee Meng, Wen Yi and Wen Yi's brother. Thanks for coming guys !
Sorry for digging this old post. I am very curious to look at these pictures posted by Samuel and Zong Yao. Anyone saved a copy of them in their hard drive?
wow..Samuel..have not heard from him in a long time. He was very active for the Toa Payoh CSN until he loss some steam. I think last year he posted to sell his scope. You can PM Zong as he still log on frequently these days but do not post.

LOL omg this post. Hi guys, yea haven't posted quite some time. I think I still have the photos somewhere, I just need to dig (very very very hard. It was 2004 afterall).
Stargazing ... is an excuse to stay up past bedtime that never fails!
just smack your scope right in the middle where people are walking or working.
And you will convert that pasar malam to pasar quiet because everyone will either run away from you thinking you are setting up a weapon of mass destruction or they flock at your scope.
I suspect I will see headlines "Astronomer activated Singapore Commandos" on Wednesday's New paper.
