The famous Toshimi Taki (of "crayford focuser for poor man" fame) also has some very good quality star maps (easily Uranometria 2000 class) at his web site...

I took the trouble of printing these out on a big printer and binding them together... but in the end you're better off buying Uranometria :-P because you'll never get the nice binding and stuff by rolling your own.

Or get a cheap Android phone and install free google sky map.
