No you don't need it. :-)

600 can buy you a 10" dob.

well then you'll also need a paracorr :-)

short refractors and SCT's don't do too well with these super wide eyepieces due to field curvature.

Get the 10mm Ethos it is a good deal. :)

You don't have to worry about field curvature as the true field is not that wide with a 10mm eyepiece. With my 'short' ED doublet refractor at 88mm f5.5, my 11mm Nagler (yielding about the same true field as the 10mm ethos) has zero field curvature and is sharp to the very edge.

About having a paracorr... I think to most people (except fussy me..) the coma is small and accepatable at 10mm focal length.

Well, the Ethos is being offered at about 70% new price, which is the best I've seen for an Ethos so far.
The only reason I'm considering it is because my Nagler 9T1, 2.5x Barlow and filters have disappeared into postal twilight! (shipment still hasn't come and its almost 3 weeks now. USPS Priority Int'l) I'm actually concerned USPS may have lost this shipment (Dang, the whole thing for under SGD300 too)
Having said that, SGD600 (or just under, depending on exchange and shipping) is by far THE most I've ever paid for an EP and actually more than what I paid for my 'scope, less shipment!
Just curious: If I do get it and want to sell it, anyone keen to get a Ethos 10 for $600? Assuming its in good condition, of course! :)

An eyepiece is half the scope! Get it if its comfortably within your budget :) And I might be a ready buyer if you decide to buy it hehe :)
We do it in the dark...

Ethos purchase is off! Seller upped the price during negotiations saying " that's what its worth". Not very nice to advertise a lower price then up it along the way.
Anyway better this way: Wife starting to get quite alarmed about the purchases! :) Must keep some cash in the family account...
