It is the man behind the camera that make the different, the camera can only make 5~10% different.

Couldn't agree more. Most people see lighting quickly put back lens cover and run to nearest shelter to protect camera. :)

absolutely the camera player is the master of the shooting machine. however, good lens and post editing also plays a big role. these photos seem to use super wide-angle lens?

Photography, just like Astronomy, is a case of finding your 'niche' that can suit your style and develop it from there!! So still it comes down to the user and his/her skill! Most well renowned Fashion Photographers have excellent shots with mere Polaroids which end up on front covers!!
Shows how cataclysm has mastered his workhorse to suit his style!

Kinda reminds me when I was shooting professionally, many asked why I only shoot with primes and had to either climb a wall, ladder, move way way back, or move everything just to fit everyone or everything into the viewfinder!! When a zoom you don't have to move yourself.
My answer?......I'm no lazy photog! It makes me think and look at my composition rather than making a typical 'snapshot'!!
These are the "geeks" that carry large flashes, with attachments and attempt to shoot in an open area! Think the strange one I saw was macro shooting flowers with a TTL Flash head.....and handheld in the evening! And he was carrying a large Lowepro reporter bag, the then Nikon D1 and hardly knew anything about composition, lighting and mood!
You should really check out those Paid model shoots...most of the time, they come with large camera's and kit but just to shy to direct the model...HAHA!
It's not the equipment thats good...it still takes a hardworker to make it look good! Like Telescopes...works the same way!
My wife never complained about how much time, effort & money I spent on my Astronomy hobby!................suddenly I met her!!!
