The best places are still large open space nearer the east. Do a google for Punggol and you can see quite alot of fields. They are not as dark but should be sufficient for catching brighter objects on a clear night.

Hi Jingyi. In the context of observing in Singapore, one should expect relatively short and unpredictable periods of clear patches of skies. A grab-and-go setup will enable you to enjoy the skies more in the long run compared to someone with a heavy setup only.
With that in mind, there is no need to be overly particular about a place not dark enough in Singapore. The ability to respond to clear skies quickly is more important. So just choose some sites that are dark enough and near enough to your house. On the plus side, they are safer than those much darker sites.
You will also be able to manage your disappointments better during times when the sky turns cloudy immediately after you finish your setup. Also, in the event you forget to bring some astro gear along, you wont mind packing up, going back home to fetch them and re-setup again at your nearby ob site. Or just ask your family members to bring them to you.

meteor view
so you mean anywhere in singapore can see meteor as long as sky is clear?
Re: meteor view
Welcome to Singastro. Answer to your question is generally yes. The advantage of a darker site to observe meteor is that your eyes pupil may be able to widen with time and thus more sensitive to light and see more fainter meteors. And of course you have to see in the general direction/part of the sky where it is suppose to originate from.jitsungo wrote: so you mean anywhere in singapore can see meteor as long as sky is clear?
