Sony NEX?

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

That was taken at my astronomical society's observatory. Frankly, it's a pretty light polluted site. But I also tweaked levels in photoshop to improve contrast. (a tweak that takes all of 30 seconds)

I have a NEX 5. it's a very nice camera. Only one thing I hate doing when doing Astrophotography with the camera.. The lens. The focus on the lens just go on and on and on. So I'll never know I reach infinity focus. And when I use auto focus. And take a picture. The stars appear like tiny balls in the image

I wouldn't suggest using the Nex lenses for astronomy unless that's your only option. The 18-200 is very hard to find and expensive. The 18-55 is a bit short.

A manual focus lens for a different camera with an adapter that's set to properly focus at infinity would make things much easier.

Hopefully the weather will start to cooperate soon and I'll be able to shoot more astro photos with mine and I'll post links to them.
