Vela SNR - an extension to a HA mosaic

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Vela SNR - an extension to a HA mosaic

Post by rcj »

Been soaking in more HA photons for this area enough to form a 3-panel HA mosaic of the Vela Supernova Remnant region using the 5" refractor. Total cumulative exposure is about 340min taken over the past few clear nights, all taken from the local balcony. Nevertheless it is still a very faint object and requires much more exposure!

wow 340 mins, how many more 340 mins to make it into colour? hehe Thanks for your effort, otherwise many of us will never have a chance to see it.

Nice! Wish I was living that high! Hmmm I do intend to move house...muahahah!

Maybe we should have an Imaging set up thread with pics of our configurations.

That's another remarkable image, Remus. You really do seem to have harvested those photos. The more I look at it the more detail I see.

Good luck with the rest of the project

Go well!
