Post by weixing »

Hi,
I plan to have an observation session on friday night 11 Jun 2004 at the grass field between the Tampines Swimming Complex main entrance, Mosque and the Tampines Sport Complex. I will be there at around 21:00 and the observation may start at around 21:45 when the flood light of the swimming complex is off.

Anyone who are interested can join me.

Hope the weather will be good.

Have a nice day.

Hi,
You can alight at Tampines Interchange... walk towards the Tampines Sport Complex. It is the field beside Tampines Sport Complex.

Have a nice day.

Hi,
It was a great night!!! We finish our observation at 6am in the morning... :D :D

There was quite a lots of people turn up for the observation. There are elton with his 10" Teleport, Ariefm71's C8, my 6" Newtonian, JohnTeh's Vixen 102, Clement Goh's FS-78, StarFirez's FC-76, and Fizzy123 brother with the ETX-60... total 7 scope.

The first half of the night, we were at Tampines and the sky was quite hazy... so basically light pollution was very serious, so all objects was not that great... except if you view from elton 10" Teleport... it is a killer.... must stop myself from looking through his scope.

At 01:30 12 June 2004, after starfirez and fizzy123 brother went home, we decided to call it a night (since the sky was so hazy) and went for site survey. We arrived at the site that JohnTeh recommended in changi at around 02:00... I think Airconvent and Samuel Ng had been there before. Anyway, the site was dark, the sky was clear and we can even see part of the milky way... YES... We can see part of the MILKY WAY in Singapore

So.. we can't stop ourself from setting up all our scope and start observing. Below are some of the objects that we manage to observe:
M57 Ring Nebula, M27 Dumb Bell Nebula, M7, M6, M22, M8 Lagoon Nebula (the M8 through Teleport is really WOW), M20 Trifid Nebula, M17 Swan Nebula (really look like a swan through Teleport) and M31, M32 and etc...

Anyway, we end our observation at 06:00 and we decided to go again tonight (12 June 2004). :)

Have a nice day.

Thanks Guys!!!! And i didn't know how a Milky way look like so every time i went there alone i always see that and i don't know what was that... hahaha its a Milky way......now then i know.....Elton scope was really a killer after looking at his scope just don't feel like looking to any other scope anymore.... Price of the scope cost around USD$4000 wow very expensive!!!! But after all it's worth the money to invest.
