CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!
Here is an unfinished image from the recent Kahang trip, only managed to collect the Red data when the clouds set in. Nevertheless, I was very please the the results owing very much from the good tracking performance with the GM8 after a mechanical upgrade. Below is an image with full 100% pixel scale with 10 min subs, a feat that the mount could't perform b4 the upgrade.

Great details Kelvin but I noticed its oval in shape. is this its true form?
I've always thought it was round but then again, some astronomers believe it was once a dwarf galaxy like the SMC/LMC but had its outer layer of stars stripped clean by the milkyway.

Good observation Richard, although NGC5139 isn't exactly round, but my image has a significant light fall-off on the right side, making it appearing even more oval I guess. This could be due partial obscuring on the filter due to condensation. On that night it was really wet, and I think my dry air pump is not up to the task. Prior to the red filter, I had also collected some luminence data with clear filter, and this did not exhibit the problem. The image of the luminence data is shown below:
