Large Magellanic Cloud at Mt. Kinabalu

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Large Magellanic Cloud at Mt. Kinabalu

Post by Robin Lee »

I am not sure if this photo was posted before by my travel mates here. Anyway, here you go.

Image

It was taken by my friend Aw Yong with a Canon 550D. The ISO was 1600 and the exposure was 30s if not mistaken.
Clear skies,
Robin.

We were lost in the sky. It was so majestic...

Any Singastro-er interested at going to Mt.Kinabalu for stargazing?
Clear skies,
Robin.

The photo shown above was taken at around 36xx metres. It is where the lodges are. We then climbed to the Low's Peak at 2am.
Clear skies,
Robin.

Hey KingKong,

Haven't seen you for a long time. How're you doing?

Which part of Borneo are you at?

@kim miau: Wow. Amazing. Can repost a bigger and higher resolution version or show us a link to it? Also links to other non-ap shots of the trip if you guys don't mind sharing.

Do let us know if you are organising another trip there again.

Saw a documentary titled Malaysian Tour with Jason Scott Lee last wednesday. The last portion was about scaling this mountain. He was literally choking in his tears when the tried to describe his feelings at the top of the mountain. The sound engineer didn't make it to the top but luckily the cameraman did. lol :)
