CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!
Sky was quite clear tonight despite the full moon in Scorpius...decided to embark on a new project. This nebula portrait was attempted a few years back with the TOA refractor, but was only able to take a single exposure. Tonight, with an hour worth of HA with the AP130, this is a quick-processed image to "check out the viscidity and area" of this fascinating region. NGC6188 is sometimes known as the Twisted Space, or Twisted Vortex, and the little bipolar nebula on the top right is NGC6164-5 (my older colour version, taken with the TOA up close, is incidentally featured in the special issue of Spectacular Universe, from the publishers of ASTRONOMY). NGC6188 is located in Norma, and NGC6164-5 is in Ara, so this FOV covers the border of both constellations. The distinct shape of 6164-5 is believed to have been caused by massive ejection and strong radiation from the central Wolf-Rayet star.
Still a little rough i must say, but here it is:
