PM 1 mount

Post by mymoon »

This will solve your 1 deg altitude problem and hopefully the counterweights hitting tripod legs. :D

Takahashi Japan

or the Google Translate

Not cheap. But can carry three DSLR simultaneously

US$ 2700 for the head. What's the payload? not clear on the web site. Probably EM11 class, so pricey indeed for the payload. But no meridian flip as well.

Umm why is there a need for 3 DSLRs? To complete imaging in 1/3 of the time needed? Or capture 3 x the amount of frames in the same amount of time?

either to capture large coverage in same time amount or yes, capture three times as many frames. this is very beneficial in limited clear sky time like our region.

I get by with two. I must say that framing is tough.

It can be very useful for sky survey as well. Though we have much more capable survey like Sloann Digital Sky Survey for the northern hemisphere and Skymapper for the southern, it will still be great fun to image such a huge area of sky simultaneously.
Clear skies,
Robin.

Another, "pretty dedicated" amateur with multiple cameras (CCDs this time).

Oh yes, Nick's work of the milky way hi-res survey is absolutely amazing.
Clear skies,
