CSN Observing Session at SP/Dempsey Tonight! (Fri, 11 Jun)

Post by acc »

Hi all
Sam Lee of Singapore Polytechnic Astro Club has kindly agreed to host a Singastro-CSN observing session tonight at SP. :D

If sky only clears after 10pm, session will be held at Dempsey instead. Confirmation will be posted here and sent via SMS for those on CSN list.

Cheers

Since there is the possibility of clear skies and lots of us will be out observing, take note of the following and see if you can catch them.

1. Iridium Flare 19:42:52 Mag -0 Alt: 29° Az: 347° (NNW) Max Intensity: -7 Name: Iridium 12

2. ISS Mag: 1.9 Time: 20:01:46 16 SW

Information taken from Heavens above: http://www.heavens-above.com/main.asp?l ... e&TZ=MALST

1. Satellite Progress M1 11 Begin: 7:21:14pm NW 45deg, crosses Jupiter, Zenith End: 7:23:32 SE. Max Mag -1 (note: not sure if sky is dark enough then)

What an adventure last night....
Went to SP around 2130 saw no one so decided to head to Dempsey instead. Drove around for about 30mins but still found no one... but the place is dark and scary man!!!

Anyways, came back to my good old faithful carpark and did some observations. Did jupiter, realized the 2 bright dots moving with it was likely to be the moons still not sure. Split a double star somewhere in the southern sector, think maybe part of the southern crux or something... but at 100x there is still some off centre spike/flare... dunno if it's my eyeshit or my scope/barlow/eyepiece...
