Yes, I had intended for this 15" ZOC dob to be accessible to all, and so far more than 200 people have already experienced it. And it has set benchmarks on the quality of image you can observe

Isn't it obvious that Albert's tripod is unique? Tell you more shortly...

Looks like a pier bolted onto a heavy duty trike base.... almost reminds me of a hand truck......

I have known Albert Tan since the pre-Halley's Comet (1986) days. He has been my original and biggest source of inspiration here for DIY resourcefulness and inventiveness. Some have called him "the most innovative astronomer in S'pore" and I concur with that.

Here is a series of four photos showing the unique tripod he made and how he disassemble it...

Photo 2: C14 lowered by hydralics. C14 ota is removed.

Photo 3: CGE Pro Mount & Tripod goes up the auto car ramp. He also has a motorised winch to haul it up the ramp.

Photo 4: Mount & Tripod safely secured inside car. C14 takes up one seat behind driver.

impressive trolley...!! did he build the ramp for his car too or is that design meant for wheelchairs?

Both.

As per our usual routine for now, we will bring the 15" dob to the Science Centre Observatory grounds tonight 15 July 2011 from 8:30pm to 10:00pm. All are welcome! Update: due to bad skies, this will be re-scheduled to next Friday 22 Jul 2011.

The 15" dob will head for Tanjung Sedili Resort at Sedili Besar on 23 & 30 Jul 2011.
