Yesterday, shoelevy and I observed at a new spot next to AIA building at Tampines. It is not good as it is very bright and extremely water logged. Despite of clouds we managed to observe some objects. 8)

1) M7-- Open cluster, bright, consist a loose n sprinkle of stars about 20.

2) M6-- open cluster, slightly dimmer than M7, stars more concentrated than M7 n richer in stars, about 40, stars more clustered near the NE of cluster. Both found at tail of scorpion.

3) M4-- gloubular cluster, found veri near Antares the red star in scorpion. Appear as a slightly circular, fairly bright, smudge through the eyepiece.

4) Alcor, Mizar-- quite far apart double stars, easily seen at low power.

5) Jupiter-- a small disc with 3 satellites seen, At higher power, the brightest furthest is split to another satellite, through shoelevy scope, the planet is bigger and two brown bands seen seen at the equatorial n south equatorial region.

Shoelevy is using a c5 on a equatorial GOTO.

Congrats on a successful night fellas...
M4 is usually a very difficult object on my ETX105 as its too dim.
To see it using a bigger C5 is great...you could have gone for M13 in Hercules which is much brighter. I normally use that to test my scope on globulars...

Hi,

I could join you at Bedok Reservoir next time. Just let me know in advance (PM or SMS 93621186). Though I live in Toa Payoh, I used to go there quite often last year as I have a direct (express) bus from here. I should be able to get a few others to come along too.
