Observe/Take the sun these days!
Just a quick note reminder to all that the sun has by far for sometime displaying a nice populus array of sunspot groups right now! Time to fit in those filters and observe, image the sun guys!

Thanks for the lead Remus!
I had no idea this was going on. I quickly viewed the Sun and imaged it just now. I've not seen so many sun spots before and in such a long stretch!
Here is a photo, using a C-5 at f/6.3. 1/320s, ISO 200.
And of course with a special solar filter on.
(General reminder to all: Do not view or photograph the Sun without a special purpose made solar filter!)
Got to run off to work now!

S&T reported yesterday:
''The Sun has been getting
more active ever since solar
minimum ended last year, and
this week it's putting on its
best show in nearly a decade.
... there’s
also a good chance of aurora
activity on the coming nights.''

Hmmm... maybe later this year I'll try to go somewhere far north to view the aurora. Haven't seen it before. Prob not Norway though...

After 2 days of total cloudiness, the bright blue skies at last returned this morning.
I viewed the Sun through a white light solar filter, but otherwise without optical aid, and managed to see a sunspot.
It was about the same apparent size as one of the main lunar craters.
Also took some photos. Will try viewing the Sun tomrw through a Coronado PST.
