Ok newbgalore2, you don't have to play games no more. chs has 2 newts, once you said your school using newts i recognised it right away. From what i recall, no other school uses newts. And your "my school doesnt give a hoot abt astro" eliminates ri. BTW, that newt is abit long yes, but it's great ok... It's the scopes from 1999 NYP's astro comp, telescope building round.. With 4 1/2 inch aperture you can see millions! (ok abit exaggerate la but u know..)

No other school uses newts? well, my sch does...
anyway, if newbgalore is from CHS , and supposing he joined astrochallenge this year... that means... he sits in front of me during this year's astrochallenge?

well... my sch's obs are........ disorganised (yup, that's the word)
we won quite a few of telescopes from competitions. some others are bought. anyway, any idea how many scopes does ri have?

yeah i agree ri is very competitive, but then again astro comp is a just a minor thing there, they have their other bigger comps.. the reason they win is cos they're good at mugging, few of them have real interest in astro anyway (as far as i can tell from the bunch of pp in my sch astro club who were from there) :? haha
oh weixing, yeah astrochallenge does have an observation round.. but then it's usu plagued by bad weather
and it kind of disadvantages school which dun have scopes too..
