Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2011 (YouTube)

Post by Gary »

Man, Mr Peach almost mentioned the non-premium sounding C-word. But at least the winner of the Young Astronomy Photographer did. :)

Just saw the Orion photo in original size. WOW. Brain freeze!

Guys,

Why not have similar Astronomy Photographer of Singastro as well? You guys do post beautiful photos from your trips and perhaps into different categories?

Since some of you know Albert also, perhaps we could hold such event during the annual star festival also?

haha...just cross my mind lah... [smilie=ahaaah.gif]

Hi stargazer. Another idea is to do it on a national, open-to-all public level. This will create more awareness for astronomy here as well as uncovering new astrophotography talents like the Eltons, Joakims, Kaomoos, ...etc.

Members here can donate a small amount of money to pool in as prize money to award the winners or donate astro gear. Local astro, camera shops can also consider sponsoring the prizes.

The winners may be decided by a panel of veteran astrophotographers and/or public voting.

I think events like this may have been conducted before. The veterans here may want to comment on this.

Jupiter opposition is approaching and there will be another lunar eclipse in December this year visible in Singapore. These could be good timings for such astrophotography competitions.
