Canon 8-inch CMOS sensor for astronomical purposes

I read this I think yesterday and I was like wow.

Not sure how big of a lens or mirror is needed for a sensor this size.

no biggie. anything over say 4m (aperture) can easily cover that sensor.

In January this year, the CMOS sensor was installed on the focal plane of the Kiso Observatory's 105 cm Schmidt telescope

hmm.. assuming a pixel size of 7.4 microns, roughly 730mp?

This type of large CCD imaging plate is only for very large telescope setup like the Subaru telescope observatory at Mauna Kea, Hawaii ...
