Public Stargazing tonight at Toa Payoh Central - 15/10/201

Post by Gary »

Hi Friends. In case you have been sleeping from sunrise till now, you should know the sky condition for today is amaaaaazing. It's like we just time-travelled back to June/July. :)

There will be a public sidewalk stargazing session at the open area outside Toa Payoh Public Library tonight from 7:45 pm. Clifford will be deploying his ETX (check out his green laser finder in person!) and I will be bringing my latest "investment" there - the Burgess 127mm achro refractor. :)

A few other members may join us with or without their scope later in the evening. Hopefully will see at least one big dob tonight. :)

Main object will be Jupiter which will be high enough to observe from 9 pm. Moon will conjunct Pleiades tonight - should look fantastic together in a super wide refractor that can do at least 4 degree FOV.

If the sky continues to be clear, I may be staying late and perhaps even overnight like the day before.

Check my most recent post in this thread or my twitter (http://www.twitter.com/astrosg) for the latest updates.

All are welcome! Super clear skies!!

Thanks Chee Chien for your blessings! We had a great time indeed. The skies really give chance this weekend. :)

To all those who came with or without your scope, a very big thank you from the bottom of my heart! Extremely glad to catch up again with you guys in person. The residents of Toa Payoh are very fortunate to have you guys helping out at the sidewalk session.

To those who can't make it, no worries. There are plenty of opportunities in the future and I am very glad you guys enjoyed your weekends too!

More clear-sky weekends to come!

@shirox - Bro, it's a chick magnet. Told you so. No wonder my queue only attracted children and their parents. [smilie=ahaaah.gif] Emailed you the original jpeg and canon RAW versions. :)

Oh no. I missed this session.

Hopefully I can convince one of my parents to give me a lift to a future session so I can bring my scope. If not, I'll just go there and hang around.
