EF Lese to M42 body

Post by kochu »

Hi,

Does any one know how to attach a Canon EF lense on a M42 threaded body. There are many adaptors out there for fixing M 42 lenses on to an EOS body, but not the other way around, it seems.

Ideas most welcome.

Brgds

You cannot retain infinity focus.

The M42 mount has greater lens-to-film/sensor plane distance than EF (which has one of the shortest register distances in 35mm SLR's). So unless your EF-to-M42 adapter has a short tele-extender, you can't get infinity focus.

actually that is an adapter to mount Canon EF lenses onto QHYCCD cameras (which have an M42x0.75 thread - in other words, T-mount, not M42 mount).

since the QHY cameras have very short back-focus and need extension tubes to reach focus with most camera lenses, then that works.

i thought the original question was mounting EF lenses onto an M42 camera.

Thanks Orly,

Actually , I need to connect my QSI camera to EF lens.
There is an original optional accessory from QSI, but it costs 200 USD++. So I am checking locally.
The thread pitch is 1 mm. Anyway I will check with Cyclops whether their adaptor is with 1 mm thread.

Thanks & regards.

Not sure if this will help but I heard Mogg adapters are able to adapt camera lenses to astro cams.

There's a big diff between m42 and t-thread, although both are m42 is size, one is x0.75 and one is x1.0. I got mogg to make an adapter for me some time back. It's EF to t-thread, from EF lenses to my orion starshoot camera. Cost is quite reasonable, about $60 or so. But it's plastic, so you might have to be a little gentle on it.
