Hi,
I have received a Vixen SXD mount from a friend in US. Everything is fine except for the altitude setting. I can't get it lower than 23 Deg. I understand that if you buy a new one from local dealer it would have come ready for local low altitude use. If you get one from US, you would need to adapt/adjust it. How did was the adjustment done? Appreciate it if you can share how to do it or point me to a person who has done it. Thanks.
Alfred.

You need the Vixen half-pillar.

There are ways to do this locally if you have access to a machinist. Otherwise..

Hi Orly,
Thanks for your reply. I already have a half pier installed. There seems to be a mechanical stop that is preventing the latitude setting going below 23 Deg. Do you have a SXD?

there is a limiter on one of the sides. need loosen that and swap to the low latitude range. it's the same for both sxw and sxd.
and no, you don't need a half pier. the counterweight shaft is "adjustable". small and light scope can do without half pier. only issue is the cable tend to get stuck with the legs.

Hi MooEy,
Thanks for the pointer.
After reading your reply at 1 am last night I re-read the user user manual and also found the answer on the last page of the user manual. I was about to post my update on this group when I saw your pointer posted at 6 am. Thanks very much for your help.
I guess old habit die hard - I am still not reading user manual. Only do so when I hit a problem...
Alfred.
