M45 Pleiades (7 Sisters)

Post by chip »

Hello,

I spent a week in my kampung, Rengit area the past week. And when the clouds cleared enough, went out to try and catch this well known star cluster. My first proper attempt.

Hope this image will make the cut among the new trend of imaging in H-alpha. [smilie=admire.gif]

Thank you all for the compliments. The sky sure is still quite pristine. Milky Way is still visible with the naked eye. Just hope that it'll stay that way forever.

Yeah where is this kampung?

Road trip! [smilie=admire.gif]

Seems it's also somewhere in Johore but along the coast?

Actually I'm surprised that the stars are round (enough) with a Meg90 and GP2. The GP2 is not exactly a heavy-duty mount, I was never happy with my 100ED on the GP (and the Meg90 weighs more).

The other night actually I was trying (and failing) to get the Rosette from my 4th-floor balcony. The wind was gusting and every time the wind would pick up, I would actually see about 2 pixels of elongation on my PHD display. Pretty darn annoying.

Kevin, that flimsy tripod has got to go!!!

This kampung should be located inland in the western side of Johor somewhere between Batu Pahat and Pontian. Not to be confused with the Rengit at Punggai area. :)
