Hi all:
Anyone here has any experience with 1rpd ST80, chinese made, 2" 80* AFOV eyepiece (I know Harlequin Astro stocks these)? From a user's perspective, would you recommend that for a f/12 Mak scope (would have 1.33 degree TFOV)? How does the view compare with say, UO Konig or Widescan II/ III on deep sky - pinpoint stars with dark background across the FOV, no lateral colour?
I'm considering Pentax XL 28 mm (difficult to get at a reasonable price these days), 32 mm UO Konig (2"), 25 mm UO Konig MK-70 (2")...if there's not much difference between the ST80 and Konig, then probably I will get an ST80 - much cheaper option also. Otherwiese, might save up for a 27 mm Panoptic.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

I have not tried any of the other premium eyepieces before, but I do have the 1rpd and it is really value for money. It gives good views on my 5" SCT. If you are using a MCT, you must make sure your scope can accept a 2" diagonal. Some MCTs have a very small rear opening, that may actually vignette the image.
I used the 1rpd with my 10" dob at Mersing, but I did not really pay attention to the edge performance.

Go search my thread
You can check cloudynights forum on info on the 1rpd, also look for B-W Optic 30mm essentially the same EP.
So far reviews are that it's really value for money.
It has problems faster scopes though. Some say f6 and below while others f5 and below but it really depends on your tolerance for edge distortion (Get noticable 50-60% from axis, and quite bad in the last 30%). But even in fast scopes, most say it's still value for money. With slower scopes such as yours, it seems that the 1rpd is pretty good.
In general, contrast and light throughput is said to be better then the
TVs dues to the fewer number of elements (4 I think).

No amount of review reading or opinion gathering can beat the personal experience of trying the actual thing on your own scope before buying, if given the opportunity
