Hi weixing (and frens),
hah hah..looks like your virgin trip to Mersing
as cc would like to point out, I'm always a pessimist when it comes to weather. it has not been good for the past 1-2 mths since the previous mersing trip and I'm very doubtful it will be on 17 Jul but no harm trying..mersing has occasionally surprised everyone with crystal clear skies..
just make sure to prepare for rain (trash bags to cover your scopes in a jiffy).
When you're there, don't forget to look for T7 and Q4 for me...are they still visible?

Ya Rich the eternal pessimist... :) If you don't go because you expect the weather to be bad, then you have zero chance at all. :)

I have been there many times (>15) and so far I have scored only 1 totally fruitless trip. The other times, I have been rewarded with at least a few hours of moderately clear to 100% clear skies. A single hour there beats a whole night of observing here... :) So good luck and clear skies for those who are going!

cheers

Going to Tioman on the 17 July weekend. So will not be able to make it. Another time perhaps. Next time John, ask me before putting my name in the list. :D

yeah... it is pitch dark. waving ur hands in front of u wouldn't have much effect. haha. hmmm.. as the horizons, there are a couple of gentle slopes nearby. however, they shouldn't be much of a concern. =p

actually its never fully dark, especially once you get dark adapted.
on a clear cloudless night, the milky way and all the stars will provide some light....enough to see your hands and even people walking about...
