Sky finally cleared enough around 10 plus to deploy the cannons. Was having a hard time getting clear focus from the camera but I eventually gave up and took to doing afocal photography through the Nexstar 6SE with my handphone camera. Here are some of the better shots.

Thankfully the heavy blanket of clouds over Singapore thinned out somewhat at around 10.30am. I managed to spot the tiny disc of Venus's silhouette on the Sun's disc at around 11am from the Robinson Rd area.

Also managed to photograph the transit during lunchtime with a 300mm lens, but the skies still had a blanket of clouds, though much thinner than in the early morning. Will post photos soon.

That's it, no more Venus transits for over a century!

Interestingly enough, my wife and I were not allowed entry into this observation area at first...

I had brought along my small 80mm solar scope and was stopped by someone representing The Science Centre at the glass door leading to this outdoor area. The conversation does along like this...

"sorry, you are not allowed to bring your own scope into this area."

"why not?"

"only the public are allowed in...if you want to view your own scope, you can bring it to Chinese Garden MRT to view there."

"if I want to view myself, I can just view it ouside my home...I bring my scope here is to help show it to the public."

"no, my boss gave me orders that you can't bring your own scope in here."

"ok, I dont want to use my scope, just let me in since it is open to the public"

"sorry, you have to join that long queue at the other entrance door."

"how about you just let me in to take a photo of the event, and I'll come out in a minute?"

"wait...let me check with my boss first..."

[Meanwhile i noted that there were still more than thirty people in the entrance queue who had not seen through a solar scope, while there are probably more than a dozen scopes around with just four to five people lingering around each scope. It was about 40 minutes to 3rd contact.]

"sorry, my boss said you still cannot enter..."

Fortunately for us, there was a change of heart later and I managed to get in and took these few shots.
