I am intending to buy a Toshiba Tecra series notebook when I am in the US as the prices there are lower. However, I understand that I cannot exchange for another unit if the one I receive has dead pixels. Does anyone has any idea if retailers in Singapore offer a no dead pixel guarantee? Any good shop here to recommend? Thanks!
Hi,
You just check the notebook before you paid.... ask them to on the notebook and if you find any dead pixel... ask them to change... I think most of them will change for you since they want you to buy from them.
Anyway, if you discover a dead pixel after you buy, they normally won't change for you, unless there are a lots of dead pixel... I think they will change for you if dead pixel is more than 5 for LCD.
Have a nice day and good luck.

Zero Dead-Pixel Guarantee, if I don't remember wrongly, is offered by Philips, BUT for lcds only not laptops(they don't make laptos). I haven't seen a notebook lcd with dead pixels though now that you mention, and so I think it's quite safe getting from anybody, and like weixing said you can check before buying. During the warranty period (1year usually) if you find more dead pixels you can also go to the relevant service centre to request for service.. afterall it's free if within warranty
As for which retailer to buy from, I'm not very into Toshiba products so I don't know, but I usually recommend my friends buy Dell: cheap, and good service. ;)
i think there's a guideline to qualify for exchange. The manufacturers will only exchange if there are five or more dead pixels, or of any of the pixels are black or white.
