When I'm doing broadband objects like reflection nebulae, clusters or galaxies, it might be a better idea to use a petrol filter..... up to Mersing or Sedili...
Hi Kevin,

What type of filter when you mentioned a petrol filter?

i use an IDAS LPS-V4 (note it has to be a "V4") which works very well for emission nebulae in SG. it's like an H-alpha filter but less aggressive. i don't think you can use an H-alpha filter on an unmodded DSLR because the DSLR has an IR-cut filter. so the V4 would definitely work better, how much better I don't know for sure (I use it on a QHY8, which has no IR cut filter).
Hi Orly,

Will research more on the IDAS LPS-V4 on CN and others. Thanks very much
