M16, M17, M20 and reprocess M8

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

M16, M17, M20 and reprocess M8

Post by weixing »

Hi,
Saturday night was quite good... although had a layer of high cloud, but no large cloud flying in 90% of the time when I'm imaging. I start slightly earlier and manage to took 3 objects that night. :mryellow:

All the images of the 3 objects (M16, M17 and M20) use the same settings:
Lens: Canon EF 400mm F5.6L + 1.4x (@F8.0)
Camera: Canon 450D Mod + Astronomik CLS EOS Clip-Filter
Mount: Vixen GPD with Single Axis Motor Drive
Location: Tampines, Singapore
Images: 60 images x 1 minute exposure @ ISO1600
Orientation: Right - West, Left - East, Up - North and Down is South.

All images are crop to 8R (3023x2421) and resize to 720x577, so all have same field size (~1.6 x ~1.28 degree)... can see the relative size of which objects. I also reprocess the M8 Lagoon Nebula and crop to the same as the rest.

Below are the images:

M16 Eagle Nebula

M17 Swan Nebula

M20 Trifid Nebula

Have a nice day.

Beautiful! Shooting them in Singapore makes it even more challenging and thus more rewarding!

Very nice! These are the kind of images that I show my non astro friends and they are amazed that this can be imaged and seen from our challenging Singapore skies.
