Mersing August '12 - M33, M45, B142 & 143, M20, M8

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Mersing August '12 - M33, M45, B142 & 143, M20, M8

Post by rcj »

Hi all,

Wanted to capture this galaxy again, didn't had enough data years back in the older rendition. Although large, Triangulum Galaxy has quite a low surface brightness. Had to have more subs taken per channel, around 6x5min per RGB. In order to highlight the emissive nebulae within, HA subs were also taken. It was a challenge trying to isolate the HA nebulae regions while basking in the brightness of the starry spiral arms. Taken with the E210, ST8300M combination, mounted on the G11, which is about it's last imaging session before the new mount arrives. Enjoy!

indeed shirox! Here is another attempt of the famous open cluster in Taurus, taken under very hazy conditions....sigh.

Hi Remus, very nice, must be very fruitful trip for you and the rest. Thanks for sharing especially the special 7th month effect around the stars, haha.

Many thanks, Clifford, CK and Alfred.

Here's a seldom-imaged object located in Aquila. Seem to be hooked on capturing dark or dusty nebulae sources these days. Barnard 142 (centered) and 143 (lower left) are dark nebulae near Altair in Aquila. 142 is very contrasty and resembles a "U" or horse-shoe. It is located about 2000LY away, and proves to be a good target for the Epsilon FOV. Also taken during the August Mersing trip last weekend. Captured during the second night, where it was very cold yet clear!

Ah nice pointy stars! Looking forward to your 2nd night images.
Can't process my images yet, realized that I have yet to accumulate appropriate dark libraries , was shooting at much longer exposures than previous attempts. Collecting them now ...... :P

thanks Kelvin!

Here's Trifid fresh from the processing oven! take note of the little dark nebulae structure to the right of Trifid...
