First attempt imaging Moon.

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Was lucky last week. I got hold of Philips 840k from a local ebay seller for a mere 10 bucks. And I chance upon a Philips spc900 at mustafa center. Now I am ready for webcam astrophotography!

Finally got a chance to use my webcam on the moon last evening.

I stacked it using registax. Not too happy with the result though. Any brother can give any pointers to help me improve?

Good attempt! Thanks for sharing.

Moon was still a bit low and your scope was looking through a lot of atmosphere + indo haze + high clouds. So it may be hard to reach good focus. Keep trying every night as moon will appear higher and higher in the sky.

You may want to give as much details as possible so others can help you:
- what scope
- what tracking mount
- web capturing software settings - how many frames per second, gamma/contrast settings
- duration of video clip
- post-stacking photoshoping (if any)

Hi Gary!

Yes, the Moon was low and there was clouds cover on and off. I was using Orion Short Tube 80A with a fluid head tripod. To capture I used QFocus, as to frames and gamma settings I did not adjust it. Duration was short as I did not adjust QFocus.

Will try it again when the chance comes. Cloudy nights are making me fastruated! haha
